Yevgeniy Ivanov was born in Sutoki in 1920.
He voluntarily joined the Red Army in 1940.
In 1941, he graduated from Bataysk Air Force Pilot School.
On 6 August 1941, serzhant Ivanov became operational and initially, he flew as part of kapitan F. M. Fatkulin’s OIE (independent fighter squadron).
From November 1941, he served in 92 IAP, which was equipped with I-153s.
This regiment became operational on 4 November on the South-Western Front.
On 1 February 1942, he was slightly wounded in the leg.
92 IAP was renamed to 929 IAP on 18 June 1942.
Around the same time, he was transferred away from the regiment.
He was posted to 9 GIAP in January 1943 where he flew Yak-1s on the Southern Front.
On 1 April 1943, he was seriously wounded in the head, and he remained at hospital until 10 August.
After recovery, he was transferred to 73 GIAP, where he flew Yak-1s and Yak-7Bs on the Southern Front.
The Southern Front was renamed the 4th Ukrainian Front on 20 October.
On 24 April 1944, starshiy leitenant Ivanov was killed during a combat mission.
At the time of his death, Ivanov was credited with 1 biplane victory and a total of 10.
These had been claimed during around 300 combat missions (of which 118 were ground attack missions).
